378 PIENA LUNGA

      DI NAPOLI

Cylindrical club-ended fruits measuring up to 60 cm in lenght and weighing on average between 15-20 Kg. outer green skin with grey stripes and deep orange pulp containing very few seeds. This popular cooking variety, part of the Mediterranean diet, can be used in soups or as a side dish (baked in the oven and then dressed with oil and vinegar). SOWING: from April to July in holes spaced 1.5 metres apart. Place 4 or 5 seeds in each hole, later thinning out the shoots to leave the strongest plant.

381 CHARANGO

     (tipo Butternut)

Very uniform variety suitable for fresh market. The average weight of the fruits is 1,5 Kgs, about 18 cm long and the shape is of classic butternut type. Early variety with a good number of fruits per plant. SOWING: in holes leaving a distance of 1,5 metres between rows and placing 4-5 seeds per hole taking care to thin out after germination to leave only the strongest plants. 

377 TONDA DI NAPOLI o

       MUSQUÉE DE PROVENCE

A round-flattened, beige-orange fruit with deep furrows. Average weight 15 Kg. Compact and sweet, yellow-orange flesh with just a few seeds in the centre. Usually used in slices. SOWING: in holes from April to June leaving a distance of 2 metres between rows and placing 4-5 seeds per hole taking care to thin out after grmination to leave only the strongest plants. 

380 LUNGA DA PERGOLA

      (Legenaria siceraria)

Ideals as an ornamental plant on trellises. Plant with very short distance between side-sprouts, green fully lobed leaves with whitish markings. Very long fruits, mid-green with lighter streaks. SOWING: plant outdoors from April to June, sowing 3-4 seeds per hole, with intervals of 1 metre between holes and 2 metres between rows. Thin out seedlings after geremination to leave strongest plant.
